Throughout my four years of high school, I went through a lot of heartbreaks, friendship drama, and stress. However, when going through all of this, I knew it would be well worth my while with graduation approaching. When I finally made it to 12th grade, I thought my emotions were stable, however, I soon realized that things were just beginning. I experienced a whirlwind of other emotions I wasn’t prepared for.
In talking to my high school counselor, I learned about my college options and available scholarships to help pay for school. Although, I wanted to attend NYU, this school was very expensive and therefore, I was excited to hear about the scholarship options. Upon talking with the University’s enrollment counselor and her further expressing the different grants and assistance the school offers, my goal became to attend no matter what. I began to get more excited with graduation approaching and with the thought of relocating to another city and starting my education of becoming a history professor. I started doing as much as I could to be informed about the school. I studied the school map, sought to get acquainted with my professors, and even downloaded lecture notes. I was determined to not let anything get in my way of being ready for college. As time passed, I continued to prepare for college by taking the ACT and etc. However, my dream of attending NYU was short lived due to the financial stress on my family.
