The Supplier I choose was Gildan Activewear Inc. It is a clothing manufacturer with its company headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada with over 33,000 employees that brings in an annual revenue of $1.9 billion. In addition to the actual product being supplied, Gildan Activewear is also a good fit because they have about four-distribution center in U.S., the nearest one being in South Carolina thus, transportation costs to Knoxville will be much lower than if the supplier was based overseas. This perspective is determined by debt structure and cost efficiency of Gildan Activewear. Compared to American Apparel and Delta Apparel, Gildan debt is not bad. However, delta is better at managing their debt compared to Gildan and American Apparel. Surrounded by the financial objectives, Utee would like Gildan Activewear to be devoted to cost efficiency by improving cost structure, and increasing cost efficiency. Even thought is not that important in the balance scorecard it can hurt Utee image when it runs in to a stock out problem; and if the distribution is too far it can increase cost significantly. When thinking about a product there is always going to be some constraints in getting the end product from the supplier. When talking about the price of shipping, it can be rather difficult to keep the price down based off size and weight. Cost of raw materials and prices from the supplier have to be considered carefully when trying to pick the right supplier since Utee does not own its own freight they have to look to outsource it elsewhere. Thus, the delivery performance for Gildan Activewear is scored high because one of their distributions is located in South Carolina. Furthermore, Gildan Activewear have anywhere from five to six distribution centers in U.S. and approximately seven distribution centers globally.
