Gender roles, or a prehistoric, trivial aspect of human interaction is the norm on how we act, behave, and respond to things we have done. Words like “Traditional” and “Orthodox” make me sick; gender roles and stereotypes are not imperative in society. The responsibilities of the world aren’t delegated to certain genders. Gender roles must be abolished from every aspect of life. The whole idea negates all nations and limits advancement of human beings. The areas of high gender inequality and stereotypes are in the work field, parenthood, and in education.
The work field has many gendered aspects. In the past, it was very rare to see women in the work field, now women have flourished in all kinds jobs. Studies from College Time have proven such facts like, “With almost half of the workforce being women, female employees aren’t exactly a rarity. For most women today, getting a job is an expected part of life. This is a big change from past decades. In 1900, fewer than 20% of women participated in the labor market while today the number is around 75% and growing...” (College 1). However, this great achievement came with a setback. Women receive less pay than men. According to College Time writers, “Women make only 77.5 cents for every dollar that men earn, many economist feel like this is by choice of employers” (College 2). In addition, “African-American women earn 64 cents to every dollar earned by white men and Hispanic women just 52 cents per dollar. Whether it’s attitudes…
