In today 's world and throughout history we have on and on had the conversation about gender and inequality or discrimmination. “Gender inequality refers to unequal treatment or perceptions of individuals based on their gender. It arises from differences in socially constructed gender roles as well as biologically through chromosomes, brain structure, and hormonal differences” (“Meaning”). Gender inequality can be found everywhere, from the United States all the way to Asia. There is nowhere in the world where gender inequality does not exist. There are many aspects to gender inequality, however, gender inequality in the workplace is the most common topic that is discussed. Excluding gender there are other power disparities included in inequality such as: race, religion, appearance, beliefs and anything else that makes one person different from another. Gender inequality would not be such an important issue if each side received equal opportunities, the pay gap was gone and women had the same rights as men. What is gender? What is sex? These are questions that people use to define who a person is and what they can do. Gender, “is the complex interrelationship between an individual’s sex (gender biology), one’s internal sense of self as male, female, both or neither (gender identity) as well as one’s outward presentations and behaviors (gender expression) related to that perception, including their gender role” (“Understanding”).
