In 2001 Gazprom has acquired NTV from Media-Most holdings. In 2002, Gazprom Media, Gazprom’s subsidiary, acquired Vladimir Gusinsky's shares in companies held by Media-Most. In 2005, Gazprom became a major shareholder of Sibneft. Gazprom bought 73% of the company for 13 010 000 000 $ and renamed it to Gazprom Neft. This is when Gazprom has become Russia's biggest company. In 2006, Gazprom made an agreement with Mitsubishi, Royal Dutch Shell, and Mitsui to take over 50% of share of Sakhalin Energy.
