In 1973 Maryland became the first state to ban same-sex marriage. In 1996 27% disagreed to
make it legal, compared to 2015, 60% agreed it was right. (Bush) On May 17, 2004, Tanya McCloskey
and Marcia Kadish were the first legal gay marriage to happen in the United States (Alan Cooperman,
Jonathan Finer, Fred Barbash). On June 26, 2015, the US Supreme Court passed the law that the US
Constitution in all 50 states allows same-sex marriage. Before same-sex marriage was completely ruled

What does the future hold for same sex marriage? We get a new president in 2016, it could all
change in the matter of one opinion, and each state could see bad things in same sex marriage. Supreme
Court could lose members that were in favor of it, then gain ones that find it bad. Although don’t take it
into completely getting shut out, it maybe just certain states. Say those 38 states keep it legal and the
other 12 still believed to keep it illegal. As those 12 states could take each marriage license away, make
