This analogy states that humans are sitting in a big pile of dung. And instead of looking for a way out of their squalid conditions, they just close their eyes and block their nose and tell themselves that everything is rosy and good! And because they are afraid to see the reality of their situation they will do anything to avoid opening their eyes.

So the putrid state that humanity finds itself in is just a natural, built in part of the Game. But I am still amazed that people continue to live in their pile of dung even after their filthy situation has been clearly pointed out to them!
There are a number of reasons for this. The first, is because everyone they know is in the same situation, and they “can’t all be wrong!” The second reason is because of laziness, and the fact that it is easier for people to do nothing than it is to think, observe, and try. And the third reason has to do with the overriding motivation behind all human behaviour, which is fear.
You would think that the fear most likely to trip up the seeker would be the fear of annihilating ‘themself’. But this is really only faced towards the end of the process. The fear that strikes first, and the one most likely to derail the seeker’s progress, is the fear of isolation.
This fear is usually triggered when a person realises that a gulf is developing between themselves and everyone they know. This gulf forms because the seeker is progressively seeing the truth of their world, while everyone else is continuing to see the world from the ‘normal’ human
