In the section that talked about male dominance through racial dominance, Bederman talked about African American men being categorized the same as women (Bederman, 1995). Be categorized as women meant they were dependents that could not execute manhood right, their for less than men (Bederman, 1995). The world has changed since that time in so many ways, but human race likes to revisit the past. Just watching the new shows just how much the human race likes to revisit the past. There is a section in The Lenses of Gender that I feel tied to this subject. This subject is more leaning towards women and was written by woman’s centered theorists, “ The problem with men and the institutions they build is that they altogether too concerned with separation, dominance, and hierarchy,” (Bem, 1993. p.128), they also stated that men are, “not concerned nearly enough with connectedness, mutual empowerment, and harmony” (Bem, 1993. p.128). I do not agree with this statement. I have had a few men in my life to show otherwise, but this does not jade my perspective the entire male gender. This is not only a male issue some women find the need to assert themselves as well, but women could be using their sexuality to assert themselves. Why do Genders as well as races still feel the need to assert dominance over each
