Senator Robinson believes that Senator Thomas’s bill will prevent the police from successfully tracking suspected criminals. While this may be true, that would be a desired outcome. Our legal system is contingent upon the presumption that citizens are considered innocent until proven guilty, therefore, if the police have no articulable basis for the probable cause necessary to obtain a warrant to track a person of interest in a criminal investigation, they should not be permitted to track them. While the police must be allowed to serve their role in our society and ensure the safety of the public, the liberty and privacy interests at stake are too vital to be outweighed by the debatable security
