Reflection Paper On Action Planning

Decent Essays
Final Assessment This semester I was able to participate in action planning. I was not quite sure what to expect when I started out, but throughout the semester I learned a lot about myself. I learned how to make a goal that was actually attainable. I also learned what was too much for me to accomplish, as well as how to push myself to work for my goals. Finding that balance was the most important part of action planning. My goal this semester was to learn to cope with my stress. Through action planning I was able to take baby steps to achieve this goal. Learning to cope with stress is a lifetime battle, but I definitely feel like I understand how to deal with my stress better now than I used to. Throughout the semester I learned what worked …show more content…
Some of the things that actually did end up affecting my action planning was my roommates, my friends, and my family. My roommates affected me in actually a couple of ways, both positively and negatively. They helped me because they encouraged me to do my action planning when I was discouraged. Also, when I would come home stressed from something they would remove me from whatever was stressing me out and do something with me that would get my mind off of it. Some of the negative effects were that sometimes my roommates would talk me into doing things with them instead of doing the things that I needed to, which in turn would stress me out. Also, sometimes my roommates and I would have disagreements that would cause some stress to build in our apartment. My friends and family helped with my action planning because they would talk to me and help me know how to be less stressed. It helped to just get to talk to people that I love about what was stressing me out. In the future I definitely think that I will employ my action planning skills that I obtained from doing this. This is because I loved the idea of setting small goals each weak to help reach a long term goal. I love that because sometimes when I set a goal I just focus on my long term goal, but I push off achieving it because I am not quite sure how to get there. Action planning showed me that if you set small goals

The biggest change I have made this semester is taking on a creator mindset/attitude. You could ask anyone that knows me and they would say I have a pessimistic attitude. I would always joke and say I’m a pessimist because I’m either right or I’m pleasantly surprised. Simple having the negative thoughts floating around in my head constantly has certainly been a dead weight holding me down.…

I could not agree more with contemporary blogger Teal Swan’s quote that “We do not fear the unknown; we fear what we think we know about the unknown”. Although I would not describe myself as particularly timorous, as I left my family in the Heathrow departure lounge I admit I had a few reservations: How am I going to live in another country? Will I fit into the Babson campus? Will I make friends? What am I going to do with my family 3,000 miles away?…

I would say that I learned the most about what it really means to have time management after this semester. Entering my first semester of college I had blind faith in the University, and myself because I believe everything would just work out and I would pass because it was meant to be. However, fate and hope are no the things to help you life as a new college student. The drive to wake up, attend class, finish homework, and accept the new responsibility that had been placed in my novice hands diminished greatly as the non-academic temptations became to creep in my head. I must be honest with you and let you know that I did cave and willingly participate in the sweet release of social experiences.…

The Power of Collaboration “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is process, but working together is success” (Henry Ford, Brainy Quotes). Throughout the first couple weeks of college, I expected to figure out everything out on my own without help from anyone else. However as it may be the case in some circumstances, I can surely tell you that classes like English 100Y definitely does not hinder the concept of teamwork or collaboration. Throughout the semester we have been exposed to a variety of group based activities and challenges. These collaborative assignments help benefit the students with the capability to attack challenges in the future whether it be in another class or life itself.…

This semester has been a very difficult, stressful, and challenging for me . High School can not compare the amount of stress I had to face in this fall semester at Hostos Community College. However, it is like that with many other students because making a transition is frightening and many of us find a way to run away from it. Everything in life is a challenge and it is scary as well, but for those who want to study it all starts of with college. It took me more than words to actually realize the reality that I am actually living right at this very moment because, I was not expecting so many things to fall apart, but somehow becoming whole again.…
