Gene, Thank you so much for your thoughtful responce to the story that I shared. In terms of my personal views towards spanking, after being exposed to so many different views I have decided that, one day when I have kids I won't be spanking my children at all. When I grew up I was spanked by my parents and I don't think that it had a negative effect on me or my views of my parents, but I do think it could be easy for it to be taken to far. As far as how I think that my view on this has effected my perception of God, it has not had a huge role, but looking forward to the kind of parent I want to be it plays a big role.…
Through my four years in high school, one of the toughest classes I faced was AP biology. The rigorous course involved an intense 48 chapter lesson plan with a 2 hour AP exam at the end of the school year. Near the end of my junior, I was skeptical of taking this class, as I heard from my fellow classmates that the class was difficult to earn a decent grade. With this in mind, I began preparing for the class over the summer by reading the textbook, and practicing using the workbook. As I read the book, I became deeply interested in this subject.…
As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…
Sarah Diaz Dr. Basu Bio 572 My Favorite gene One of my favorite genes that I have had the pleasure of working with is known as PROMININ-1, or PROM-1. One of the reasons why it exists as my favorite gene, is because the research lab that I am interning at studies this gene and its role in a very well known and unfortunate disease, biliary atresia. It also is one my favorites due to the fact that it has a lot of potential applications in studying other diseases or further research. These applications will be discussed shortly.…
“I’m ready, I’m ready” says my childhood star-Spongebob before starting each day of work. This was also the same attitude with which I started my junior year with. Unfortunately, unlike Spongebob I did not end up continuing with that same attitude. The year was 2016, and I was certainly filled with hope for the new school year, but all to no avail.…
But we’ve accounted for all the carriers, Charles. All present and not pregnant,” Jenna said. Charles initiated a meeting after my finding. Detonate shimmered, the codes scanned with a message to meet in Level One Laundry Facility at eight after the dinner shift. “Could there be more?…
I started constructing my phylogenic tree by breaking down my organisms that I collected into three basic categories, plant, fungi, and animal. Starting with the plants I proceeded to break them down into land plants and water plants. I broke the land and water plants down to flowering plants and sprouting plants. The flowering plants I split between plants that produce fruit, such as mangos, and seed plants, consisting of a pine cone in my tree. Sprouting plants consist of tall and close to the ground growing plants.…
Most people would kill to have my genes. My genes could have been considered the eighth wonder of the world. Everyone was amazed by the precision and beauty behind them. I was told that my genes were ridiculously perfect, but that was no coincidence. A significant amount of reasoning and effort was put into the specific placement and order of the four simple letters T, A, G, C that shaped not only my DNA but also my identity.…
Thank you for sharing your story with us. I was afraid I was too personal in my post- but after reading others; I do not feel this way. To answer your question, I come from very poor genetic genes.…
I was able to get rid of so much stress and get the energy I needed to finish the semester strong. I don’t know how I survived last semester because I was taking a full load of credits and working full time but I manage to make room for myself and join a gym that motivated me to take care of my health. Since then, my self-care…
My Genes Our bodies are made up of twenty-three chromosomes from each parent. My parents gave me plenty of traits, both dominant and recessive. I’m more like my mother than my father, if many ways considering how I act, act and see the world. My father gives more of the recessive genes, rather than dominant.…
I was more lively and positive moving forward. My junior year has definitely shown me that I can do anything if I put my mind to…
My three favorite texts in semester one The three most interesting texts that I have read in Mr. Mcgee’s Class Wow! the first semester just flew by. I can still remember walking into the doors of the high school, and realizing it would be the last first day of high school. I also remember walking into my English class, and realizing that I would never graduate.…
I would say that I learned the most about what it really means to have time management after this semester. Entering my first semester of college I had blind faith in the University, and myself because I believe everything would just work out and I would pass because it was meant to be. However, fate and hope are no the things to help you life as a new college student. The drive to wake up, attend class, finish homework, and accept the new responsibility that had been placed in my novice hands diminished greatly as the non-academic temptations became to creep in my head. I must be honest with you and let you know that I did cave and willingly participate in the sweet release of social experiences.…
During this semester I was able to experience many accomplishments, all of them have helped me to gain a better understanding of what kind of leader I aspire to be. In developing my personal philosophy of educational leadership I was able to focus on what qualities I already posses to be a successful leader. I desire to be a leader that creates a positive climate and a supportive culture, one who inspires others to be great and require greatness for the students that they teach, and promoting all to become lifelong learners.. Being able to shadow my administrator in many different aspects of her profession really opened my eyes to all that is required of educational leaders and the effort that it takes to ensure that you are always working…
