Feminism Final Project I am a feminist. My feminism is inclusive. My definition of feminism is a movement to make everyone positively represented, protected, and equal, regardless of factors like race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender. While I know that feminism has made great strides in the past couple of centuries, I also know there is a lot of work to be done. Things like beauty ideals, gender roles, and ****************** are still prominent in our culture and still oppress and complicate women’s lives.
Beauty ideals are something feminism challenges everyday. Women are constantly fed garbage that their is something wrong about them. All of American culture 's disgusting beauty ideals have the same origin in common, they were used as a marketing scheme. Our culture today is saturated with messages from the mass media telling women "here is what is wrong with you, give us money and we will fix it(but have you noticed how ugly this other aspect about you is, give us more money and maybe we can fix that too)". They play on women 's insecurities, and the basic human desire to feel accepted to make a few bucks, and by a few bucks I mean an approximate of $426 million in 2011 (The Beauty Company 5). Well why does it matter? I found that throughout history, every time women fight for more equality, some new bullshit beauty norm is thrown at them to make them feel insecure, and preoccupy themselves…
