During World War II between 1939-45, women were progressively obtaining jobs that they likely would not have been able to attain previously due to the absence of males in those fields. And around the 1960s, several federal governments mandated laws for the economic improvement for women like The Equal Pay Act of 1963 and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Despite almost fifty years of increasing equal opportunities gained by women, and the fact that today women account for approximately 57% in the labor force, their opportunities for leadership roles seem far from equal to their male counterparts. They state that there are overwhelming evidence of women entrepreneurs experiencing limited financial availability from banks. According to the findings of Muravyev, Talavera, and Schafer, Women are five percent less likely than men to be approved of bank loans, and when they are approved, they pay .5% more interest (cite). There are no empirical evidences as to why women receive significantly less venture capital, but there are some potentially viable explanations like in-groups and the perceived notion of being naturally different. There is also belief that the reason female small business-ownership do not rise to the top is because of the underlying perception that they are not capable of doing “their” jobs. Then there are studies like Robichaud and her group study that suggests that access to funding was not a deterrent in a female entrepreneur’s pursuit for a successful business (citation). They did state, however, that there was a limitation to their study because their sample are of older female entrepreneurs, which have more creditworthiness and expectations than younger ones
