Women in the past has made progress in the feminist movement in hopes of achieving equality between men and women. This is done so that anyone can have the freedom to choose what they want to do with their life without any law restrictions. Although modern society fulfills people’s desires the concept of Raunch Culture treats women like obscene objects as seen by people in society. Because of this some would believe that women’s progress in the feminist movement is dragging them down once again. One author, Ariel Levy creates a stance pertaining to Raunch Culture in Female Chauvinist Pig: Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture is that it places women behind in the feminist movement as young women of today take an interest in the concept of promiscuity. In the chapter “Pigs in Training” the concerns of young women demonstrates that society finds it normal for women to engage in Raunch Culture in order to gain attention from men. Ariel Levy’s apprehensive tone in “Pigs in Training” demonstrates her disappointment in young women accepting their status as attention-seekers. Contrary to her perspective, those who disagree with her argument believe that Raunch Culture is an opportunity for women to satisfy their needs of feeling popular and respected by men, which means that they are only under their own control instead of someone else’s.
