Fast Food and Obesity Many people believe that self-choice causes obesity, but fast food is the cause of it. According to The New York Times, teens sued McDonalds for making them obese. Even though people are responsible for their actions, I believe that fast food truly is the cause of obesity. Obesity in America is constantly on the rise. There are so many different health issues you can from being obese, particularly bad ones. Two out of every three Americans are considered to be obese. In the 21st century, The United States has one of the highest obesity rate in the world. Often times people wonder why do others eat fast food. There are a few different reasons people might choose to eat fast food. Sixty-seven percent said they eat fast food because it’s convenient. Many people consider fast food convenient because it is easier to find and way cheaper than healthy foods. “According to the Pew, 66% of American adults eat out at least once a week. More specifically, 41% of adults eat fast food at least one time per week. Within these statistics, men are more likely to eat fast food than women are, as are adults in the 18 to 29 age range” (Chelsea Nunez). Often times people get fast food when they don’t feel like cooking, or when they are running late. Fast food is also convenient to others because of the low cost.
