The major takeaways from each class within Introduction to Student Services have been building on each other. Every class is prepared to challenge my upcoming student affairs professional mind. Within the world of student affairs professionals, one can argue that there will be a lot of situations that will involve ethics and personal values. Acting in an ethical manner is an essential aspect of a student affairs professional/educator. Not only will it help a professional establish credibility but also can become a platform to promote the values of an institution. During class, we had a chance to role-play several ethical situations as well as cultivate answers to common problems. My main job responsibilities were to help the Resident Director with administrative tasks as well as providing emotional support for the Resident Assistant Staff during difficult situations or events. My supervisor had informed me, during one of our weekly meetings, that they felt one Resident Assistant was reporting community builder events that had never happened. They suggested me to attend the next community builder that the Resident Assistant advertising to confirm the suspicion. A week had passed and I arrived at the location of the event that was advertised by the Resident Assistant. Residents began flooding the room and just waiting for the Resident Assistant to arrive. We waited for a total of an hour and after the hour was up residents began to leave. As they were leaving, I could hear some individuals complaining that this isn’t the first time this has happened and that the Resident Assistant does this all the time. I decided to knock on the Resident Assistant’s door and they did not answer. I made a note of this and reported it to my Resident Director. The next day, I received a program evaluation of the program that I had attended but unfortunately waited at. The Resident Assistant talked about how plenty of residents attended, there weren't any problems and the location, as well as the time, stayed the same. These obviously were major red flags for me since I was there and didn’t see a program happen when the Resident Assistant said that it
