I believe that John Wade is not guilty of directly murdering his wife but he however is guilty of driving her to her ultimate death. First, there is no evidence that John hurt her in any way that night. Police forces and even K-9 units tore apart the cabin and found nothing incriminating of John. Also in a hypothesis chapter it said that John could have poured boiling water onto Kath’s face effectively killing, then he proceeded to dump her ,along with the sheets, into the lake but if this were true there would have been singed skin cells around the bed, the mattress would've been noticeably damp to Wade the morning after, and there would have been his fingerprints all of the boat house. Secondly, all the evidence points to Kath taking the boat out and getting lost in the lake. The aforementioned evidence is that the boat and life jackets were missing and Kath was not in bed.
