Just before the summer 2014 approached, my family and I were all living in the city of Hong Kong. My parents had recently announced to my sister and I, that we would be leaving Hong Kong. Not just on a vacation or on a summer long trip, but to actually move and live in a whole new country. They told us that we were going to move to America, as my parents thought it was time for us to leave Hong Kong. We did get to help choose a state for us to live in, my mom and dad has given us a list of a few states they were interested in. New Jersey was an easy choice for all of us. We had been there a few times before, and both of my parents had grown up there. A plus to New Jersey was that most of my family lived in new jersey, my grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles, and family friends. Once we decided on New Jersey they mentioned a town where they had found schools and homes they were interested in. That town ended up being Ridgewood New Jersey. When summer came around we visited Ridgewood, we looked at home and luckily found one we all loved. When the news first hit me, thousands of emotions went through my mind. I was excited about living in New Jersey, and living in a new house. I was scared about leaving and having to go to a new school, as well as upset about having to leave everyone. I was mad that my parents did not tell me sooner, and I was dreading telling my friends I was leaving. It took me a while to finally come to terms with the idea of leaving, and to actually realise that it was happening. I first thought about all the positive change that was about to happen opposed to everything I was leaving behind. I was content at the thought of a new house, making more friends, and experiencing something new. But upset at the thought of a new school and having leave my friends behind, which made me more upset about the whole situation. I soon had realised I would have to accept what was happening and get over this obstacle in my life. My family and I did many this to get ourselves situated with the move. We visited Ridgewood over the summer, and looked at houses and the town itself, …show more content…
Being able to know that I got through it and I am perfectly okay, has changed my outlook on many things. Getting through the move has changed me for the better, even though I had to part from people that were very important to me. I learnt that if they were someone I would truly miss, I would find a way to maintain contact with them. Parting from important friendships and leaving my home changed me for the better, because I now know what a true friendships are. I am also a stronger person, because I know I can get through tough obstacles. Moving not only changed the way I feel about myself it also changed how I will approach future problems. Any problems I might face in the future, I know to focus on the positives of the situation as well as accepting the negatives. I now know that in the moment it might seem like the world will end, but that it is possible to overcome. Most importantly I learnt that saying goodbye might not be an easy thing, but it is something you can definitely get
