Everything changed to get around the hardships and I soon adapted. Little did I know I would look at life differently out of nowhere. I got home from my last soccer practice on an October night. As I finished my homework I started watching Netflix on my phone so I could fall asleep. The show goes quiet and all I hear is my dad screaming from downstairs. I went downstairs and that’s when everything changed. I dashed back up the stairs to grab my phone. I pressed three digits into my phone as I bolted back down the stairs to the living room. There was so much screaming and crying from every direction as I was explaining to the dispatcher my mother’s condition. At that time I thought I was going to lose my mom because I had no idea it was a seizure. Not even my dad knew what was going on. Through this whole time I was balling my eyes out while I was watching my mom as my dad tried to comfort her. About three minutes passed before the red and blue lights flashed outside. She started to faze out of her seizure slowly and once the paramedics entered the house she finally said her first word. Once we were told that they expected she just experienced a seizure and that it could happen again made me look at life differently. I learned how life was so short and that we should cherish every moment of it but I also believe I lost something that day. Things worked out in favor for Wes at that time because they soon were together. Being together also included being sexually active. This resulted in Alicia getting pregnant as a teen. When Wes found out about the pregnancy he had no idea what to do. From that point on he had three other children at a young age and fatherhood would soon take over. Being a teen was not the best option in raising 4 children at his age. Instead he had to mature so his family could be supported. He made many different decisions based on the fact that he now had children with two girls. One of them would be to attend Job Corps so he can get a better job than drug dealing. In the end both me and Wes went through an event that matured us quickly and lost the part of childhood that was for the time we could slowly spend learning about everything that is out there in the real world.
