After reading the book The Other Wes Moore many themes seem to nudge at you to realize many things that happen that you might not notice in everyday life. One of the life lessons that really plays a roll in my life is loss, faith, and redemption. Loss. This word can mean different things depending on the person and their experiences. Loss might mean an event that causes immoderate feelings of despondent. To another person it might be so simple as losing an object that meant a lot to them. These losses can impact the rest of someone's life. I have experienced this feeling within the last year. My mom has been really sick recently and lots of things have changed even over the past few years, but only a few months ago would it really make the …show more content…
Everything changed to get around the hardships and I soon adapted. Little did I know I would look at life differently out of nowhere. I got home from my last soccer practice on an October night. As I finished my homework I started watching Netflix on my phone so I could fall asleep. The show goes quiet and all I hear is my dad screaming from downstairs. Through this whole time I was balling my eyes out while I was watching my mom as my dad tried to comfort her. About three minutes passed before the red and blue lights flashed outside. She started to faze out of her seizure slowly and once the paramedics entered the house she finally said her first word. Once we were told that they expected she just experienced a seizure and that it could happen again made me look at life differently. I learned how life was so short and that we should cherish every moment of it but I also believe I lost something that day. I believe a kid shouldn’t have to witness such horrible feelings as I did that …show more content…
Things worked out in favor for Wes at that time because they soon were together. Being together also included being sexually active. This resulted in Alicia getting pregnant as a teen. When Wes found out about the pregnancy he had no idea what to do. From that point on he had three other children at a young age and fatherhood would soon take over. Being a teen was not the best option in raising 4 children at his age. Instead he had to mature so his family could be supported. He made many different decisions based on the fact that he now had children with two girls. One of them would be to attend Job Corps so he can get a better job than drug dealing. In the end both me and Wes went through an event that matured us quickly and lost the part of childhood that was for the time we could slowly spend learning about everything that is out there in the real world. Now that we had gone through this loss our lives changed and so have our

Regardless of what Wes wanted, his mother was going to make sure he had a future and that beginning step was building a strong foundation through his education. While on the other side, the ‘other’ Wes, his mother would be at work so often that Wes didn’t have the proper motivation to do well in school or in his ‘extracurricular’ activities. Not only did Wade Chittam physically leave his mark on the University of South Carolina at Lancaster he also left an emotional one. With the genuine claps given and all the recaps several professors and Chittam retold there wasn’t a better ambient in such return to the university he so strongly aided. With a general summary of his life taking half of the lecture and the other half reminiscing the past with stories Chittam was more than happy to be back. Dating back to 1968 when Chittman first arrived to USCL as an inexperienced but determined teacher only to prove peers wrong after getting rid of the handful of lecture flashcards before his first class.…

I will be the first to say that I am pretty lucky that I have not faced a difficult challenge in life that has stopped me from loving the people I love. Therefore, writing about this may be a little challenging for myself. However, one major change in my life that could have affected me more than it did is the divorce of my parents. A Full Sized Testimony “Someone has it worse”. That seemed to be one of the lines I'd have to rather force feed myself to keep from feeling depressed about the sorry life I lived. “It's not all bad”, was another one that wasn't used as often as the first knowing that it was a lie. It was all bad. It was hard to be grateful for a roof over my head when there were holes peering through the ceiling as if placed strategically for me to dawn at the moon.…

One of my family philosophy that has guided me through tough times in life is “ what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger” this proverbs resonate in my life and that of my family. My parents struggled to leave the country and come to the United States to come to the United States to chase the American dream. Throughout their struggle to create a better future for my siblings and me, the one thing that kept them going was that they had the support and love of their respective family. Having your family to lean back really helped my parents and when that backbone was threatened by the death of my aunt from my mother side and my uncle’s death from my dad’s family in a space of a week, it took a lot of resources and time to return the family back to its originally framework and although our respective family found a way to cope with the losses in both families, things would never be the same.…

There are a lot of things that people have to go through in daily life, some people have easier lives that overs. The differences in each other may show that you are not the same as the person next to you, but all and all everyone has something that makes them have something in common with that other individual. What I have found out is that regardless if that one individual looks like they have a spot clean life it is substantially likely that they are having or have had problems in there life. The thing is, is that i ant saying that it is the same for everyone. The problem could just be they don 't know how to spend their money wisely, are to irresponsible with the money (spend it all on booze, smokes, and or lotto cards(scratch tickets))or don 't know how to find a way to pay for something they need.…
