1) When was the environmental protection agency (EPA) formed?

What events prompted its formation?

- The U.S. was rocked by a series of waste land toxic materials, the earth's automatic, self-cleansing, life support systems became increasingly threatened and consequently people from all walks of life and from every part of the political spectrum were expressing their anxieties on the streets and this happened to b the largest public American demonstration ever seen in America. Hence prompting President Richard Nixon transmitted Reorganization Plan No. 3 to the United States Congress by executive order, creating the EPA as a single, independent agency from a number of smaller arms of different federal agencies.

6) a) What do “endocrine disruptors” do?

“Endocrine Disruptors” also known as manmade chemicals come from agriculture, from industry, from home lawn care products, from all of the things that we tend to be using without adequate regulation and cause abnormal mutations in marine creatures.

b) Why do genetic mutations in fish disturb scientists so much?

It bothers scientist that much because our endocrine system is very important to our maintaining our normal bodily functions, and at different points in our life, our hormones interact very much to allow us to develop, to grow, to go through puberty, then to go on to have children and so on. So finding that chemicals can disrupt or modify or perturb this endocrine system in a variety of ways can cause effects on reproduction, on development, on the developing nervous system; can be associated with the increased incidences of cancer; can affect our immune system. In the endocrine system, one part or one tissue or cell in our body talks to another tissue, and if you interrupt that communication, if you cause too much communication, too little communication, wrong communication, we're not going
