To like someone is to find them agreeable or otherwise enjoyable, but to absolutely admire someone is an entirely different matter. It is difficult to say exactly what causes people to be received so warmly and respectfully but a truly admirable person is someone who is analytical, confident, and passionate. Emma Watson is an admirable person because she critically examines and reviews the world around her, she has confidence in her actions, and she has a passion for all that she says and does.
Emma Watson is admirable because she is deeply thoughtful and analytical of the world around her. She constantly reviews all of her actions as well as others in order to learn from the past and to help improve both herself and the world. Last year, Watson delivered a powerful speech on the UN Floor, promoting a campaign for gender equality entitled HeForShe. In her speech, Watson states the definition of feminism then analyzes the connotation behind it, “I was appointed six months ago and the more I have spoken about feminism the more I have realized that fighting for women’s rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating” (Watson). Watson is quick to notice that just the mere word of feminism is enough to turn heads-and not in a positive way. Her decision to begin her movement by attacking the negative connotation of feminism and encouraging positivity with the definition was a bold move but highly effective.
