Baby Doe: Colorado Women's Hall Of Fame

In the Colorado Women Hall of Fame, there are one hundred and fifty-two women in total, out of all one hundred fifty-two women, there are three that caught my eye the most. There is Chipeta, a Native American woman that belonged to the Ute Tribe. Owl Woman, the Cheyenne princes managed the relations between Native Americans and The Whites. Finally, Baby Doe, also known as the silver queen. One of the main similarities between all three women, was that they all got inducted into the hall of fame in 1985. Chipeta, meaning White Singing Bird in Ute, was a part of the Ute tribe in early Colorado. She lived her whole life in Colorado, from birth to death. Chipeta, was born in 1843 and passed away in 1924. She was married to Chief Ouray, and accompanied him in the very first treaty of Conejos, Colorado. Five years later, she also accompanied him to another treaty signing in Washington. Chipeta, was inducted into the hall of fame for being courageous, brave, for her intelligence, beauty, and wisdom. Both whites and Native Americans, respected her for her good judgement and her compassion. She inspired me because she never gave up. She was persistent until she got what she wanted. Even though she was stunned at first, she did not let that stop her until she gained the name of Silver Queen and had the respect of the people. That is very inspiring to me because I have not let other people’s opinion of me stop me from achieving my goals. Another reason why she is my favorite is because instead of sitting back and letting her husband do all the work, she helped him. They built the silver empire together. What was also very admirable about her was that after her husband passed away, she tired her best to keep everything running and tried to maintain the empire by
