A Person I Admire: Katie Piper
Katie Piper, a successful British model was raised in a small English village by her devoted and affectionate family. When she was 22, she moved out on her own to London to further her passion as a television presenter. Kay Little, a friend of hers described her before the incident, "She was physically very beautiful and we would go out to a bar or to a club or just shopping and heads would turn.” In less than an hour, her old life deteriorated. On March 31, 2008, a stranger outside a London cafe attacked Katie with sulfuric acid. She suffered extreme disfigurement. The acid ate at the skin on her face, neck and hands. It consumed her ear, parts of her

As stated earlier, Katie didn’t want to live. Her future and dreams were shattered, but eventually she picked up the pieces and put them back together to create something beautiful. Still today, Katie is continuously going through different surgeries and treatments to allow her to live her life to the fullest. The amount of surgeries she has had is boundless. Not only is she in a better, healthier condition, but she also regained vision due to stem cell treatments. I believe many people would buckle under the stress throughout the struggles she went through, but with support from others and self-motivation she was able to escape the dark abyss she was thrown into.
In conclusion, Katie Piper is an inspiration to many people, including myself. Her positivity, compassion, and strength persuade me to believe she is one of the most beautiful and endearing people in the world. She is a role model for people everywhere, and her story has touched many hearts and spread motivation. Her words encourage us to persevere and never give up. “Even when you think things can never move forward and you feel so low, there's always a way out.” -Katie
