Throughout, this essay I will explain the consequences of students procrastinating in college. The consequences discussed will be how procrastinating affects students grades, as well as students who do not procrastinate on a regular basis. Later on, solutions to reduce procrastination in college that can also be applied to your life in general. Holding students accountable for submitting work on time and holding instructors accountable for enforcing these standards will also be discussed. How colleges can help students quit procrastinating by ensuring students understand the course material and by organizing group study halls for students we need additional help. To make this paper credible, information from several articles and websites was gathered. These articles and websites explained how many people procrastinate, the effects of procrastination and how to mitigate procrastination using different techniques. I would like to discuss a problem I have with procrastination. Students seem to procrastinate more on homework or assignments when they feel like they have a good understanding of the course work. Investigating the problem of procrastination, I will consider the pros and cons of not getting course material submitted on time. Although, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the pros outweigh the cons, but for the sake of the experiment, let’s consider we don’t know.
