Early Childhood Strategies Paper

Counselors have many strategies that they use when helping a client with their problems, however those strategies come from their beliefs on human nature. That is why I believe one of the most influential times in a person’s life is their childhood, meaning that early childhood experiences may cause a positive or negative affect in one’s behavior. I believe that situations that happen during childhood plays an important role in who that child grows up to be. I believe if a child experiences a time in their life when a situation went from negative to positive, they are most likely going to handle the same situation in a similar manner. This is a time in a person’s life when then grow up into the person their parents raised them to be. During the first stage of the helping process, I would start it build a therapeutic relationship with my clients. This is important because with this relationship the client can feel more comfortable with the counselor, causing the client to open up and become honest. Building trust …show more content…
With this, the client would set goals that they want to accomplish and with maintain and reaching goals this will build self-confidence in the client as well. This experience would be great for a client who needs help when solving their problems, because the client would learn the meaning of goals. They would also learn that having goals in your life is something they have full control over, meaning, they are the only ones who can complete them. If they need some assistant along the way with these goals, it is important to let the client know that other people can help assist them with these goals but at the end of the day, the client is the one who is reaching the goals. This does not only build trust in others, but it builds trust in themselves because they can have a healthy balance between getting help from others and helping
