With everyone being different, the diverse sex and gender in today’s society plays a huge role in someone’s life. There are “some people who are born interested” (131) with that being said gender is social and consists of learning attitudes and behaviors, not biological or physical qualities. These days the word gender is well accepted, now days it is acceptable for people to consider themselves transgender. This is “denoting or relating to a person whose self-identity does not conform unambiguously to conventional notions of male or female gender” perhaps one would feel more comfortable expressing gendered traits that would be associated with the other sex. We learn to manage our relationships and marriage. These norms and rules regarding sexual behavior are also known as sexual scripts. The scripts may lead to hooking up, this may result as a relationship or marriage or just casually hooking up with someone without commitment to one another. Marriage is the process by which two people make their relationship public, official, and permanent. It is the joining of two people in a bond that putatively lasts until death, but in practice is increasingly cut short by divorce. In today’s mainstream American culture, we marry for love. Most individuals think love is the priority for a good marriage. However in many cultures love does not lead to marriage. You can be in love with someone and never marry them.
