Organizations that invest in their employees operate on a high performance level. Developing employees into a high performance culture prepares them for the ever changing environment of the product and customer. Acting as a strategic business partner, human resource management is responsible for establishing systems of development to prepare employees to meet company goals. Human resources are the most precious asset of a company and should be highly valued by the organization. Individual employees bring their own unique set of skills to the company that cannot be duplicated. Exceptional individuals should be identified and primed for future positions in the company. Not only is succession an important part of any good business plan, growth is of equal importance as well. Employee development can be achieved through assessments, job experience, interpersonal relationships or formal education.
There are a variety of assessments an organization can use to plan employee development. The Myers- Briggs Indicator and The DiSC assessments are common methods of obtaining psychological data. Collecting information about an individual’s personality type, work behaviors and job performance provides insight into their strengths and weaknesses.
