Noelle prefered the group home. They at least turned a blind eye to wandering youths.
She had nothing against Randal’s. They were good church going folks. The only problem was the six other screaming kids they had in the house and the fact that they were good church going folks. Noelle refused to be an in-house babysitter or sit through another night of bible study. Which is what lead her to sitting passenger with a guy she didn’t even know that well. It was better than laying on a park bench for the night again though.

“Is that alcohol? So drinking and driving is bad enough, but to do so in the presence of a minor. Not too bright are we? Step out of the vehicle. You too, Mars.”
“Minor? I thought she was twenty-one.”
“They always do,” Officer Juarez said.
With a sigh, Noelle grabbed her ripped up school bag, walked to the back of the car and put her hands on the trunk. She closed her eyes as he patted her down and checked her bag. There wasn’t any contraband inside thankfully but that didn’t stop the nerves from eating away at her stomach. This was the first time she ever really got in trouble with the law.
