The government is not funding the schools and the kids are getting a poor education because of that. The adults have not been given the proper education which why the parents want their kids to graduate from high school.. The schools are not getting funded right and the students are the ones that have to deal with it. When it comes to education performances, Mississippi is at the bottom. The schools do not have the right equipment, materials, and books for their students. How much schools get is from property tax which is a problem for schools in Mississippi Delta. The schools in rural parts lack funding because of this. Compared to another place in Mississippi like Madison which is given more funding since it is a rich county. In order to make school funding equal Mississippi passed a Mississippi Adequate Education Program in 1997 but it has not done anything to solve it. It has been over twenty years and it got funded only three times. These kids are so poor that seventy percent of the kids in Mississippi get reduced lunch or free lunch. The government is holding back the children in Mississippi from becoming someone great. Equal education in the United States should be given to everyone. People in the Delta are living like people in third world countries. The parents want their kids to go further than themselves but sadly some dropout. When it comes down to government assistance Black people get treated the worst. Segregation may be legally gone but it is still there. There is a divide between whites and Blacks. The white people make way more and are viewed and regarded better while Black people make less and treated worse. The white people would not let black people do what they want. Especially when it comes to politics because they were not supposed to run. The town Tchula has a bulk population of African Americans but some of the white people still had that slave owner mentality. Black people were held back until many of the white people started to leave. The white people still there live in rich communities and have pools while the Black people still live in poor neighborhoods. The rich white kids go to private school and Black people go to public school. This system just sets up Black people to fail and oppress them. They wonder why there are places that are poor because it is their fault. Those folks do not want to see Black people win and will always want them to be in a lower position than them. After slavery was illegal, African Americans that lived in the South took part in sharecropping in order to feed their families. They did not make much money and were living in places they were renting. They still in the same place as they were for slavery. The difference was that they were free and could move around places. Sharecropping made
