Definition Essay About Being Strong

Strength is not something a person can define easily. I know true strength is not something that’s physical. It’s not who can punch the hardest or who can lift the most weights; it's a little bit more complicated than that. True strength is overcoming obstacles, being there for someone emotionally and physically, and being strong for other people’s well-being. Personal obstacles are the hardest things a person can overcome. Simply because only certain people can handle certain circumstances, something may be harder to do for one person than it may be for another. A person who has social anxiety is showing strength when they try to talk to other people. A better example is when a person challenges their circumstances in order to not only fix their situation but someone else's as well. A woman has three little girls starting at the age of nineteen and gets married. Due to practically no income, she is forced to get food stamps. Both she and her husband get jobs to pay the bills. It can be extremely heartbreaking for someone who loves and cares about another person to see them go through hard times and not be able to do anything for them. For example, if a person was raped at a party and went to a friend for help and advice on what they should do, their friend would have to be a strong person in order to be there for their friend. It’s difficult seeing a person hurting and not being able to help or even to relate. But then again no one would want to be able to relate to something like that and even if they can, not all terrible memories are the same. Sometimes the most a person could do is try to offer some advice or maybe some money. But some things a person can’t fix. Sometimes all that a person who’s hurting needs or wants is a person to listen to their grievances, but it takes a strong person to do
