Life is struggle. That may seem very pessimistic, but it actually isn’t. Life without struggle is stasis. Life not only requires growth, life is growth. You must strive beyond what you can currently reach to become more than you currently are. Everybody struggles. It’s the natural human condition.

Gratefully, this is not.

It’s not the struggle that sets people apart, it’s their ability to endure, survive, learn, and grow. It’s their resilience. Struggling is not unusual. Everyone fails some, but not everyone tries again. Everyone trips and falls, but not everyone gets back up. Everyone deals with heartbreak and disappointment in their lives but not everyone continues striving towards their goals, nonetheless. Not everyone is resilient.

Sometimes your struggle is with the world around you and other times it is entirely within yourself. I struggle every day to overcome my personal weaknesses, predilections, and failings. Some days I fail to rise to the challenge or live up to my own standards. Rather than berate myself for my failings, I focus on how I can do better. You need to let it be okay to let yourself fail, because you will. It is only through failure that you can achieve success. Failure is not to be feared. In truth, as long as you haven’t quit, you haven’t really failed. You only truly fail if you never try out of fear or give up after a brief …show more content…
It can be exhausting at times when it seems like all you do is attend class, study, practice, do chores, sleep, and wake up to do it all over again. It’s hard work that’s only made more difficult when dealing with the pain of a broken home. No question about that. Understand that you will work hard in your lives regardless of what you do. All the studying and extra effort you put into school now isn’t so that won’t have to work hard later. I can guarantee you’ll work hard. It’s so you can have more than just a job, but a career you actually enjoy, stability, good working conditions, and earn much more money for the hard work that you will do. This is the only way you will be able to afford to raise a family, have a better life, and retire from work at some

Everyone has faced a certain point in their lives where adversity has led their aptitudes out. Adversity affects people in different ways whether physically, mentally, or financially. In the quote by Horace, a roman poet, adversity is viewed as hardships that people overcome every day in their lives that make them who they are today. Although adversity can make people endure, adversities develop the person to become prosperous and bloom vigorous and effulgent like a rose. From personal experience and on views on successful people, I agree with Horace verbal expression because I believe that everything one surmounts in life makes them prosper and strive in everything they do.…

In her short story “Resilience”, Barry uses both visible and written cues to show the several demons that existed in her childhood. Her written thoughts are restrained by her present emotions but the dialogue is a glimpse into how she still feels about past situations. In one of the panels, Barry discusses how she began “doing things that scared me but made me feel exhilaratingly whole”(Barry 71). Her drawings show how Barry usually gave into sex in school because of a past rape; she didn’t want to do it, but she couldn’t stop.…

The statement that “Adversity is one thing we all experience at one point or another,” is quite correct. All people that live or have lived have suffered the pains of adversity. However the continuation of the statement is not as precise, not all “Texts dealing with adversity are moving portraits of people who are great examples of resilience.” This is because texts dealing with adversity can only show resilience in a limited number of forms, therefore in these texts resilience is shown as black and white, not as the many shades of grey it actually is. This can be observed in the texts “the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” by Mark Haddon, which follows the protagonist Christopher Boone as he tries to solve the mystery of the…

Adversity is a difficult situation and I am very certain that everyone has had to overcome adversity at some point in their lives. I know I have. when I got admitted to study in the US I was ecstatic, however, my excitement dimmed when I realized that the scholarship I was awarded only covers my tuition and fees. I was at a loss because my parents had told me at the beginning of the application process that I had to get a "full ride" scholarship, that is the scholarship should cover the full cost of attendance or I had to forget about it. I struggled with breaking the news to my parents for fear of what they would say.…

There are also ways race can facilitate learning. One of the ways that I believe that it can work would be the idea of resilience. This was also featured in learning module 6. You're supposed to move forward, not back, but sometimes you need to take a step into your past to move forward into your future. Struggles are everywhere and it takes true inner strength to over come the hardest ones. I know it is easier said than done, but it doesn't hurt to try. If you try and fail, at least you know you've tried, where as if you don't try at all, you'll end up living with the regret of knowing you had the opportunity to do what you wanted and never took it.…

Recognizing resilience in oneself is difficult until we look back at the mountains we have climbed, and obstacles we have overcome. That resilience is defined in the attitude we exhibit during and after stressful events (Harrington, 2012). When I overcame my first obstacle as a single woman a few weeks ago, I realized that even through high-functioning anxiety, I can cope under pressure by having a positive attitude, when I experienced the frightening moment my car broke down on the interstate. I haven’t been emotionally intact or thinking clearly in the last year. I question everything, over think everything and find myself more confused and stressed out just trying to function through routine tasks.…
