Deception In American Politics

Improved Essays
Many young adults have lost interest in the political side of this country. It is obvious that the structure isn’t working in our favours whatsoever, as many see no good future achievements in today’s politicians. The nature of politicians has progressed to be a world of corrupted lies and deception towards things that aren’t needed. The government is there and exists to serve the people surrounding.

Government related politics is a major area where institutional lying occurs (lying to the public). In America, their nation's debt increases daily, but they are told everything is fine and not to panic. Americans are told daily that their nation is secure, yet their borders are wide open and are told “not be alarmed”. Americans are being threatened

With the click of one small button news can be spread across the world in minutes. This makes it a lot easier for politicians to tell just found news before thinking of the outcomes before. Politics around the world lie about concerns for their people only to make themselves look almost as the “super hero” for making the world a better place. History has watched the rise and the fall of countries due to the lies in politic, business and society. Deception is a major part in and around politics, like a "pickpocket" thief who bumps you, then sincerely apologizes as his/her hand steals your wallet right from underneath you. Just like false lies from politics. They tell you stuff to make you feel more secure meanwhile they are just doing it to better themselves, when all along you think it’s for your benefit and things will get …show more content…
Ronald Reagan said that he was unaware of the Iran-Contra deal but there was clear evidence shown that he fully knew and was aware by all means. Bill Clinton had told the public he did not have sexual intercourse with a former work lady; but he did, or so close enough to say so. Lying in politics has gotten worse and worse over time, in certain ways. But Donald Trump lies to the public every chance he gets. Nixon, Reagan and Clinton were protecting their reputations more than who they really needed to protect and help; while Trump seems to lie for the sake of pure joy. A total of 70 percent of Trump’s statements that that were told to the public were false, while only a small 4 percent of them were completely true, and the rest of the 11 percent were only mostly true. When Donald Trump was shown on the Good Morning Britain Host he said ‘‘I have tremendous respect for women” (Claire 1). This quote emphasizes the exaggeration in Trump’s speech. This seems really exaggerated as you can see the false side of this statement. One of Trump’s first acts as a President was to sign a death warrant for woman and to start the legalization of abortions. Just reading what he said at this interview seemed as though we should put him in the dresses of woman and see how he feels about these changes. Also Trump showed his ridiculous ideas as he

Someone that has respect for women doesn’t go around saying that it’s okay to go around and sexually assault women. Being a woman it scares me that someone like Trump can lead our country. I believe in a world where women don’t have to fear for their safety and privacy. The world I want to live in doesn’t have a racist, sexist man leader…

Nation of Lies Why do we lie to others, but expect others to be honest with us? Today in society, lies have embodied the lives of many to the point where it has become a natural part of our lifestyle. Lying has become a natural habit for us, it has become a factor in how we carry out our lives. Whether we may have lied in consideration of how others may feel, or if it was because we did not want to carry out something we were assigned, lying has become so natural to us that we cannot distinguish it from what the truth really is. Lying has become a cultural cancer, as Stephanie Ericsson states in her essay, “The Ways We Lie”, that we have come to the point where we accepted it into our society.…

Today, I read the article “Daughters and Trumps” written by Frank Bruni. I chose this article because it seemed interesting. It also had a man’s point of view of Donald Trump’s actions in the video posted on Saturday, October 8, 2016. The article is about how multiple men are reacting towards Trump’s comments in the posted video. People are very “appalled by Donald Trump’s comments about groping women”.…

Prior to this past April, politics had not ever peaked my interest. However, in April I turned 18, making me a legal voter in the United States. Naturally and subsequently, I made the decision to begin looking into the world of politics. With the television at my disposal, I began using it as a source of better understanding the type of political culture I am living in. Every country offers its unique set of values and part of those values is what makes up the political culture.…

As an increasingly smaller percentage of young constituents are engaging with traditional political mediums, the time to acknowledge a shift in the paradigm underlying American politics is now. Voters raised in the digital age expect an immediately tangible manifestation of their actions; anything less timely is archaic. Thus, participatory politics should be used to involve this generation’s people, who are driven by local, cause-specific experiences. With young voters capitalizing on the promptness facilitated by technology, their activism needs are met in ways traditional political structures cannot afford. Not only are their perspectives immediately responded to, they are grounded in reality.…

Domestic tranquility in the United States is outlined by the Constitution and can be better understood as the way in which society lives in harmony (Wilson). Unfortunately, society has not reached a state of tranquility yet. This can be traced to ideas of racism, sexism, and other means of discrimination in the United States. Although some strides have been made to try and counteract these modes of discrimination, society has recently taken a step back in its development towards a tranquil state. Specifically, the rhetoric used by Donald Trump has been linked to ideas of racism and sexism.…

Overall, many leaders in today's government want to lower the voting age in order to allow for a substantially larger turnout in the polls as the youth becomes more and more interested and educated as they become more invested in the country's economy and well-being. Why Do People Lie Essay

In an interview with Robin Roberts, Robert Feldman, someone who has researched the subject of lies and deception for twenty plus years, said “We do it because it’s easy and because we get away with it and because it helps us in life” (Firestone). The human mind often assists in lying by helping the liar believe that by not telling the truth they are protecting someone else or themselves (Firestone). People are able to put their minds at ease when lying by convincing themselves that it is not that bad and that they are not doing anything wrong (Anonymous). It is not uncommon for people to only share information that they deem “safe” to tell and not tell everything; that is still a lie. It is a lie of omission, which at times is the worst kind of lie (Firestone).…

Today’s teens are known to be uninterested in politics, and some of the reasons they are uninterested is, that they do not care about politics because it does not affect them, teenagers simply do not know about politics, and teens have been raised in the age of social media. The first reason that researchers do not think teens are interested in politics is that teens do not care about politics because it does not affect them. For example, Sarah-Jayne Blakemore, a cognitive neuroscientist from University College London, UK has done research on why adolescents always puts themselves first. The research showed that teens use a different a different part of their brain compared to adults, which makes them more selfish. In other words teens are…
