Women’s rights have come a long way in the last century and still have a long way to come. Donald Trump is notorious for his incendiary comments and actions toward women, one such example of this occurred in his 1994 interview with ABC News: “I think that putting a wife to work is a very dangerous thing. Unfortunately, after they're a star, the fun is over for me. It's like a creation process. It's almost like creating a building. It's pretty sad.” This message along with many others sends a message that Trump does not see women as equals. Trump is also known for objectifying women while owning Miss America, by commenting on Republican candidate Carly Fiorina, as well as his comments about his own daughter. Perhaps his most disturbing comment on women took place in the Access Hollywood video in which he bragged about sexual assault, when questioned about the video his defense was that everyone does it. These comments are very dangerous especially with rising sexual assault as well as rape culture and victim blaming that has become prevalent in today’s society. Trump has been accused by numerous women of sexual assault and was set to go to court for the rape of a thirteen year old until she received death threats and was afraid to testify. Additionally Trump has refused to support the Campus Save Act, which would crack down on sexual assault at colleges.
