Dear White People is a 2014 American comedy-drama movie. The plot of the movie revolves around the issue of racism in American society in general and at the Winchester University in particular. It can be regarded as a good movie if someone has to pass his or her time, but the movie surely lacks in various technical and artistic aspects, if seen with a critical point of view. Central theme of the movie is related to conflict between two races, the white and the black, in Winchester University and how it may result in serious implications. The issue of racism raised in the movie should be praised, but at the same time, it may also be argued that the story goes on to an extreme. It 's right that racial conflict exists in such an environment, but such movies are usually expected to also provide some solution to these problems. However, there was no solid answer or solution provided in the movie. Overall, it can be established that the movie “Dear White People” ignites an important discussion and depicts an otherwise neglected topic. The costumes and conflict between characters is such that it is expected from any above-average movie. However, plotline of the movie may make the viewer lose their concentration at least on few occasions.
This movie is recommended to those people who may want to get some genuine and real-life insight regarding racial conflict in an American educational environment and want to know more about the conflict. But don’t expect to get an academic or practical answer. However, on the other hand, you may want to pass the movie if you genuinely want to spend some quality time in watching real comedy-drama movie, as this movie surely lacks adequate amounts of comedy
