Critical thinking is the mmode of thinking about any subject, problem or content where the thinker improves the quality of his or her thinking by skillfully analyzing, assessing and recontructing it. It is self- directed, self- disciplined, self- monitored and self- corrective thinking, Critical thinking entails effective commmunication and problem- solving abilities, as well as a commitment to overcome our native egocentrism and sociocentrism. Critical thinking is making reasoned judgements that aare logical and well thought out, basically, it is a way of thinking in which you don 'tcimply accept all arguments and conclusions you are exposed to but rather have an attitude involving questioning such arguments and conclusions. And this requires one to want to see what evidence is involved to support a particular argument or conlcusion. A person wiht critical thinking skills can determine the importance and relevance of arguments and ideas, understand the links between ideas, approach problems in a consistent and systematic way, identify inconsistencies and errors in reasoning, reflect on the justification of their own assumptions, beliefs and values, recognise, build and appraise arguments. Critical thinking is a good skill to develop becausse of many positive effects it has such as, improved cognitive skills, a foundation of logical decision making on which you can draw, even in stressfull situations and higher acedemic and professional achievement.
