A few years ago I lost my brother in Iraq. I can honestly say I did not manage this crisis well. However, I have since experienced many other crises, such as, two personal cancer diagnoses, and the death of other family members. Through these crises, I have learned how to better cope and unknowingly apply Caplan’s Seven Characteristics of Effective Coping Behavior.
