Art class was a huge part of Melinda’s life. A class that as Mr.Freeman describes(her art teacher),art is a class where you can touch the part of you that you've never dared look at before(pg.10). Melinda was given something to draw and study for the rest of the class, her object was a tree. Her first thoughts were confused on the purpose of the tree, and how something with no importance could have such a big meaning. I think throughout art class Melinda showed noble acts of courage. The first reason Melinda showed courage through art was her grade. Often to younger kids, especially those who just enter high school don’t realize the affects grade can have. Throughout the book Melinda's grades were never good. Her grades often reflected d’s,c’s and occasionally F’s, but one grade remained constant. Art, Art always
