The human mind is always conscious using sensation and perception to be aware of its surroundings. During every conversation we have we are making connections and we are aware of what we are doing. This is mindfulness a good example of this is when you are talking to a friend you notice her facial expression, body posture, and what she looks like etcetera. We make these connections without really thinking about it but all day and night we are constantly making connections and learning and preparing for what could happen. All day our minds are constantly changing and our attention can change a lot some more than others. Our minds constantly switch between selective attention and divided attention. All day we come across task some are consistent and happen everyday like driving your car or brushing your teeth. Our minds tend to try and focus on a single stimulus but we tend to get distracted by other stimuli or just divided our attention like when we drive a car. For example I have dreams of getting into a car accident all the time. I'm always in my car for work and just getting around and I am always thinking in my subconscious about getting into an accident. And during my dreams I have been at work in my car doing surreal things and I get into a car crash and I see it coming and I can't really avoid it I think that is my mind mentally preparing for that fear/stress of a car crash and toy learn how to avoid getting into an accident. There are many theories about dreams but I believe dreams are a form of practice because we practice things everyday and divide our attention to new things our brain uses dreams to help get a better understanding of something and to help cope with a fear like in a
