The Rectification of Names can be described as calling things what they really are (Reid, T. 1999). Also that every action or object has a name and it should be referred to by that name. Confucian was adamant about calling things by their real names (Reid, T. 1999). Properly identifying something gives it meaning and creates harmony. It is amazing how this system of ethics can have such a positive impact on a nation. People that follow this seem to be living in a state of success and happiness. Families stay together, children value their education, and people respect and trust one another. People are harmonious and knowledgeable and create less harm and crime. It amazes me that one belief can make such a major difference. To conclude, Confucianism is a system of ethics that many people follow in Japan. Japan is known to be a very harmonious area and is made up of individuals who respect one another. Confucianism is based on companionate virtues, doctrines, attitudes, and relationships.
