If an athlete was to get two concussions within six months, they could suffer a permanent illness to the brain, and a loss in other functions of the body. Athletes have been known to lose function in their arms, legs, hands and sometimes their neck/head from a concussion. Ken Stabler, former NFL quarterback, recently passed away as a victim of CTE caused by multiple hits to the head. This caused his brain to slowly degenerate. If Stabler would have been forced to sit out for one full year, this may have been diagnosed and could have possibly been treated. Since we know so little about this disease it is nearly impossible to determine early signs of it.
