How Many Fingers Am I Holding Up? A boy aged 12, was in the goal, when suddenly a ball came soaring towards him. He lunged for it to stop the ball from hitting the net, but just then he hit the goal post square in the head. He had to be picked up by the ambulance and was sent to the hospital. He had a minor concussion and was ok after a couple weeks. According to the text, “How can we keep young soccer players safe?” it states, “The study found that for every 10,000 “athlete exposures" -- a student participating in a soccer game or practice -- there were 4.5 concussions among girls and 2.8 among boys.” Sports in general is a very popular hobby in which many people enjoy to play. Whether it’s kicking a ball or just throwing a frisbee, sports are viewed to be enjoyable, fun and interesting. Even though sports such as baseball and football are as fun as can be, they can also be dangerous. Many players in the college circuit end up getting injured from concussions. One of the sports that a lot of players get concussions in, is in fact soccer.
