Let Me Not To The Marriage Of True Minds Adrienne Rich Analysis

In the poems “Let me not to the marriage of true minds” by William Shakespeare and “Living in sin” by Adrienne Rich had tons of similarities and differences. One of the similarities they had was that each one says love will be there forever and sometimes that love for a person can change. It can change at different times during the relationship from being on to off. One difference they had was that in Shakespeare’s poem he says that love may not always be the best thing. Marriage is about two souls rather than two bodies. But on Rich’s poem the main character loves her husband but only because she has to. Rich also shows how women’s and men’s wants in a relationship are different.
In Shakespeare’s poem “Love’s not Time’s fool”, he talks about how love is not dependent on time when love is true it will last forever (Line 9). In Rich’s poem she says “By evening she was bake in love again” the main character is frustrated at her husband every now and then but at the end of the day she will always love him (line 23). What both of the authors are trying to convey is that you will never stop loving someone and if you do it’s because you never loved them in the first place. They are also saying that love can be a very good thing in a person’s life or it can be a very bad thing depending on the situation they are in. Rich shows how it can be a bad thing by displaying how much the main character hates how her husband does nothing around the house. She is always the one to clean up after him, but she does it because she loves him.
