Foil Characters In Much Ado About Nothing

True love is a concept that is requires laughter and the act of highlighting one another’s unique qualities. Shakespeare’s comedy play Much Ado About Nothing is about a group of family and friends and their adventures having to do with love. Two couples end up finding love, Hero and Claudio and Beatrice and Benedick, these two couples have completely different characteristics about them. Beatrice and Benedick’s relationship is very full of spite at the beginning, but through the course of the play they end up coming together and admitting that they’ve loved each other all along. Although, Hero and Claudio’s way to finding love is something particularly interesting and strange. Claudio falls in love with Hero and gets her to marry him, but he is tricked into thinking that Hero has cheated on him, “death” and many surprises pop up everywhere in their relationship, and they end up with a happy ending. Throughout the book, certain characteristics of the characters, like Beatrice and her fiery attitude, help enhance the other traits of other characters, like Hero’s excellent obedience. They complete each other and emphasizes each others disparate qualities. The way Beatrice’s daringness to say whatever she wants, whenever she wants is something that truly brings out how Hero is incredibly well-mannered and compliant with anything someone of authority tells her to do. One directly brings out and highlights the other, and that’s exactly what a character foil is. It’s very important to understand and to be able to detect character foils in stories because it makes it easier to comprehend the story and be able to recognize every point that the author try to
