She lingers me desires like to a stepdame or a dowager long withering out a young man’s revenue (act 1, scene 1).” To add to this quote from A Midsummer’s Night Dream this essay will be introducing quotes and reasoning as to why “the course of true love never runs smoothly” said by Lysander from the play A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Love cannot run smoothly in many different ways. Love can be interrupted by others getting in the way, having to fight for a love, and quite honestly love jusy straight up hurts for the person or persons in love. Love can be a happy, amazing, powerful feeling, but at the same time can be one of the hardest things to endure. “Full of vexation come I with complaint against my child, my daughter Hermia (act 1, scene 1).” To compare, this quote represents the first main point. The first main point is talking about love getting interrupted. Love can never run smoothly if you constantly have surroundings or people that are always getting in the way. Other people always seem to make things harder for the couple. For what reasons? No one knows, maybe because a person is jealous of the love someone may have, or maybe because they are not happy with themselves so they have to make someone else’s love life miserable.
