The rising costs and unsustainability in the system has resulted in much higher costs of health care, and yet the life expectancy is lower than most countries like Canada, Germany, and Japan (Wallace 2013). The US has the highest healthcare costs in the world, and it is estimated that about fourteen percent of health care administrative costs (about 91 billion) are wasted annually due to the inefficiency and redundancy in health administration practices (Mukau 2009). What are some implementations in the U.S. healthcare system that could potentially lower the cost of health insurance while delivering the highest quality healthcare at rates that people could afford?…

I conducted my windshield survey in Clinton Township, MI. While driving I noticed a good amount of people running and riding their bikes on the trail that leads to metro beach. Nearby were quite a few medical buildings; these findings make me believe that health is an important factor for the community. The roads are decent with a few pot holes. There was a lot of traffic on metro parkway (at 3:30pm); this gives me insight that this community is a working community.…

Also, my physical nutrition was a surprise to because I thought I was doing everything but turns out I need to do some more work and improve on it a little bit. Neighborhood Influence on Social Determinants of Health Arlene Fredericks MSN, ACNP-BC Rutgers University Where we live can cause complications for our health. The conditions within our homes have significant effects on our health just as conditions in the neighborhoods surrounding our homes. Over the years different neighborhoods were studied and it was found that social and economic features of certain neighborhoods have been linked with mortality, general health status, disability, birth outcomes, and chronic disease as well as with mental health injuries (Cubbin, Pedregon, Egerter, & Braveman, 2008). Although some social determinants of health are increasingly being studied for understanding racial/ethnic health disparities, the role of neighborhood context for originating raceil/ethnic health disparities has garnered insuffficient attention (Osypuk, 2013). This paper will show how the neighborhoods we live in influence our health outcomes, what can be done to improve upon it and how this evidence can change healthcare practice.…
