P1 Unit 10 Health And Social Care

Heartlands Hospital is in Birmingham, Bordesley Green. It is a large organisation that provides help for medical purposes like broken bones, diabetes or even mental health and it is supported by the NHS. Heartlands is also government funded which means that everything is paid through taxes. It is set in a busy environment, a lot of noise during the day, quieter throughout the day. This means that it is busier in the morning then later on. Heartlands is a public sector, which is open for everyone who is need for medical help. The hospital has over 100 staff in every building waiting to help. Heartlands itself has different buildings which are easy to access/find. It has its own buildings for different problems like sight and hearing will be in one building whereas diabetes will be another.

For example if the signs are not placed in the correct places where water or any liquid has been spilled someone could walk on the wet surface without realising and fall and sprain their arm really badly. This is a safety hazard because wet floor signs protects you from getting physically injured. Another hazard is if there are things in the way, a person could trip over it and injure themselves really badly. For example if there is a wheelchair in the corridor obstructing the path a nurse could be walking by and not looking where she is going she could trip over the wheel and injure her arm or even her leg. This can be a safety hazard since if things are going to be in the way it will affect everyone in the surrounding
