Community Colleges Vs Four Year College Essay

Many have asked, is there really a difference between community college and a four year university. The answer is, yes, of course because of the smaller classes, academics, and advantages one might receive from a community college experience. Four year colleges, on the other hand, have bigger classes, higher academic standards, and a completely different atmosphere. Community colleges offer more one on one help, because of the class sizes. In a four year university students do not receive as much one on one assistance. These two factors play a big role in deciding which college is a person's best option.

Cost is a huge difference between the two. “One may be skeptical on the expense of attending a four year college.’’ (Belfield, Bailey) This factor could possibly be the main reason people choose community college over a four year university. Not only is cost a huge factor but also the environment. Community colleges have smaller campuses and class sizes. These two characteristics may also determine whether a student may choose a two or four year college. Both community college and a four year university can prepare one for the future. These two types of colleges both have many options and opportunities to help students succeed. The four year experience is definitely a better route for students looking to earn higher degrees. Although, neither college is a bad choice it all depends on the student and what they desire to
