Coming from a teacher’s standpoint, Common Core is good for students to have a better way of thinking. They are starting this now so younger kids will be able to use all these techniques in the future in their math classes. “Teachers who haven’t had much education or experience in differentiation strategies may need to seek professional development to beef up their skills” (Common Core). Saide likes the idea of having Common Core, but most teachers do not because they do not have the patience and time to go over them. My opinion on Common Core is that it takes up too much time. Why do we need a billion different ways to figure out 9+6 when we can do it like we think is right? Teachers should not have to tell us how to figure it out; we are supposed to learn by using our own brains. If we figure out the answer then that is great! If we are going to start using Common Core now, we should have been doing that a long time ago. There are students graduating who will have to get used to it because we started it so late, and there are Elementary kids who are confused at a young age because they do their work different than their parents. I think Common Core was a bad idea, in my opinion. All in all, there are numerous amounts of people who have their opinions on whether or not having Common Core in schools is a good idea or not. There are teachers who think it is helping students and making them smarter. There are education consultants and governors who think Common Core is going to open more opportunities. Then there are the students, many of us like the idea of having it and then there are others who think it is a waste of time. No matter what, the students will never have a say in what we want or get to
