The opposition does not like the idea that all the states are going to do one set standard because some states standards are better then common core standards and feel like its going to down size their academic programs (Meador, 2014). This feeling of making their education standards is one reasons why on 45 states did the Common Core Standards (Sawchuk, 2013). Many states believe the standards will help them and decided to do the Common Core Standards. Most of the poor states wanted to do the standards because it was money involved by the Race to the top grands and waivers. The is also a indication that the standards may be forced on to states who do not have a proper amount of funds for their education plan and want money for their school (Kertcher, 2013). Many people believe since the government supports this program, they want states to do Common Core Standards. This may be some what true because of the incentives I mentioned before. That states have to prove their programs meet the standards for college readiness or they would not be able to get grands and waivers. They can also choice just to do the Common Core Standards to get these grands and waivers. This acts as incentive for people that are against Federal government control (Kertcher, 2013). This is why many people are against Common Core
