Members of the jury, all soldiers throughout the arm forces go thru basic training for obvious reasons; they need a baseline from where to begin building a fighting machine. Once the soldier has met all the requirements subsequently go thru advance training were individual specialties begin to be taught. Depending on the specialty, additional training at specialized schools such as sniper, ranger, special operations (Green Beret), languages, ordinance, transportation, logistics to name a few is required. At these schools officers and enlisted soldiers work together as a single unit. Furthermore weapon systems use is fine tuned to almost perfection, many specialize on several weapons. Younger soldiers are preferred because their attitude, they feel indestructible; assimilate tactics faster while more mature soldiers perceive information differently in this case Colonel Kurtz enrolled in the program at midcareer. Consequently by this time he was already aware how to take some ones’ life, either thru hand to hand combat or by use of a weapon as well as war tactics.
